Questions
Questions people actually ask
If yours is not here, ask us — it probably belongs on this page.
Do I have to be a veteran?
No. Spouses, children, survivors, caregivers and anyone helping a veteran are all welcome, and a lot of what exists is specifically for them.
Does it cost anything?
No. The event is free and there is nothing to buy. Help from a county or veterans-organization service officer is free at every stage, and an accredited representative cannot charge you to prepare and file your first VA claim. We do not take referral fees from anyone we point you to.
Do I need to register?
Yes, and it is free. Please register free before you come. If you can’t, you can register at the check-in table when you arrive.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your DD-214 if you have it — a photo on your phone is fine. It saves time with a service officer. If you meet with one, plan on about 20 minutes and bring your biggest question. Nothing is required to attend, so come anyway if you cannot find it; a rough list of what is on your mind helps too. VETEFITS never asks for your Social Security number, claim number or medical records. If you choose to start an Intent to File with a service officer — here or anywhere else — that is a VA form and it does ask for your Social Security number. You give it to the service officer, on the government’s form, and never to us. Here is how to prepare for your appointment.
Are you the VA?
No. VETEFITS is not the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and is not affiliated with any government agency, and the VA is not running this event or processing claims at it. We explain what exists and point you to the official source or to someone accredited who can help.
Can you file my claim?
No. You can file yourself, or an accredited representative, agent or attorney can do it for you, and we can help you find one.
When is it, what time does it start, and where exactly?
Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 12 to 5 PM, at 1015 E. 70th Ave., Suite A, Denver, CO 80229. Doors open at noon, and the opening program is at 2 PM. Come and go as it suits you — you do not need to be there for the whole thing.
Where do I park?
Spaces at the building are kept for guests who need them for access. Volunteers will direct everyone else to overflow parking a short walk away. Look for the VETEFITS parking signs.
I already have a rating. Is there any point coming?
Often, yes. Ratings can be reviewed if a condition has worsened. Some benefits do not depend on a rating and others do, so it is worth asking about education, home loans, family benefits and burial.
What if I cannot make it on the day?
The benefits pages here stay up, and every one links to the official source. You can also contact your county veterans service office at any time — that help is free and does not depend on us.
